The Camping Trip

For those of you who know me and my "girly" ways...yes, my blog is about camping! Now before you are thoroughly confused, perhaps I should explain further. When I say camping, I don't mean roll out the sleeping bag, bait the hook, and break out the flint. No, this type of camping trip is a bit different. (Neither doesn't entail roasting a marshmallow over an electric burner in a 5-star hotel overlooking a woodland scene!)

This "camping trip" is the one that is referred to in Hebrews 13, "So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through His own blood. Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach He endured. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. Through Him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge His name."

In Old Testament times, the priests used to take the animal sacrifice for the people's sins outside of the camp to burn them. In the same way Jesus, who is now our High Priest, suffered outside the camp by dying on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. Therefore, we are called to live our lives outside the camp of this world and mere religiosity also. We are to be living sacrifices, giving glory to God in how we live.

That's the camping trip that my blog is about because that's what I want my life to be about...glorifying God in daily life. So, if you'd like to hear about my adventures, pull up a nearby log and join me around the fire for my life as a camping trip!
